 Education for Ministry (EfM)

At Emmanuel we are fortunate to have the Education for Ministry (EfM)
program as one of our course offerings. Here is the lead paragraph from
their website (
http://www.sewanee.edu/EFM/index.htm):
Education for Ministry, affectionately known as EfM, is a program of
theological education-at-a-distance of the School of Theology of the
University of the South. Students sign up one year at a time for this
four-year program. It covers the basics of a theological education in the
Old and New Testaments, church history, liturgy, and theology. Students meet
regularly, usually once a week, in seminars under the guidance of trained
mentors. The program grants a certificate at the completion of the four
years and 18 Continuing Education Units for each year's work.

Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study

Just like Jesus, our men enjoy good food and fellowship.   On Wednesday mornings at 7am, many of the men in the parish come together in the church kitchen for a “good old time” breakfast ( bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, sausage, grits) – which they take turns cooking themselves – and an opportunity to discuss the upcoming Sunday Bible lessons. This is one of the oldest continuous groups meeting at Emmanuel.  Anyone who is interested is welcome to join in. This is a wonderful opportunity to feed both the body and the soul…and to laugh and enjoy fellowship with other men.

just show up!

Episcopal Campus Ministry

We sponsor an Episcopal ministry to the students at the three area university and college campuses through the  Canterbury House.  Every Sunday at 5pm during the academic year there is a celebration of Holy Eucharist.  The people of Emmanuel provide a home-cooked meal for students immediately after the evening Eucharist.
